The Chain Sinnet, or Daisy Chain knot is used to shorten cords, cable or rope for storage or to make it more manageable if you are transporting it or climbing.

Basically, the Chain Sinnet not is a macrama knot that allows you to braid the knot using only as single strand of rope or cordage.

In a survival situation or even in preparing for a survival situation, the Chain Sinnet allows you to store rope or cordage more easily and in a way that it will not tangle.

If you have to traverse something – say a cliff or steep hill, you can manage the length of rope or cordage you need without worrying about having too much hanging out and causing a safety hazard.
