Debris huts are often thought of as fragile piles of sticks and leaves which you can burrow into to keep dry and warm but don't offer much in the way of amenities or basic elbow room. This design upends that way of thinking, with a built-in firepit and a design capable of withstanding a hurricane (maybe). Check it out below.

While this shelter will take awhile to set up, it's still probably comparable to many other shelters which require lashing of logs. This is a cozy place to call your home away from home, at least until you can get back to your home.

The best part is definitely the fire pit within the shelter, which makes this an excellent winter design. Just make sure your fire is very small and you have some dirt ready to throw on things if it gets out of hand!
