It's cold and wet, your lighter is out of fluid and your matches are damp. It looks like your chances of starting a fire tonight, unless you are very good with friction fires, are nil to none. This is an awesome trick to have in your arsenal of knowledge. A lot of circumstances can line up pretty quickly to make this a necessary skill, and what makes it even better is that it will work even when wet.

It's also important to note that you can do this with literally any type of battery. Just connect the wrapper to the positive and negative ends and the flame will start in seconds.

Be careful, though; you only have a few seconds to get your fire going and the last thing you want to do is accidently drop the battery in the fire.
