When holed up in your bug out shelter, one of your biggest concerns will not likely be a lack of food or water or even a lack of fuel. The biggest concern should be a profound sense of boredom. When you and your family are holed up for weeks or even months on end, becoming bored will be a very real danger. The best case scenario is that you will be at each other's throats.

The worst case scenario is that your extreme cabin fever will lead you all to jump from your bug out shelter before everything has gone back to normal out in the world, which could result in injury or even death.

In order to avoid this, it's important that you prepare plenty of activities in advance. But you can only read the same books so many times. You should plan some fun projects, as well, especially for the kids.
