(Video) He Creates a One Stick Fire. How This is Possible? I Can’t Wait to Try This!

fatwood one stick fire

Getting a fire going is hard enough even when you have a pile of good wood and kindling. But just one stick? Follow this method and it will be no problem.

As is often the case, having access to good fatwood, or pine wood that's been impregnated with plenty of resin, is the secret to simple fire success. What makes this method so great is its efficiency. You can get a solid flame going with minimal tinder, which is great because good tinder is so  often worth its weight in gold out in the wilderness.

For complete efficiency of making fatwood dust, be sure to use the spine of your blade or simply scrape the edge along the wood, rather than trying to slice really thin pieces; it will work much better for you.

If you look closely, he’s using fat wood. Make some shavings, break it up a little and that will work. If you’re hurt (as I was once) and have no or limited use of one hand, it can still be done. Won’t be easy but when you’re freezing, you’ll keep at it until you get it.
