Staying safe from the dangerous elements when a deadly storm lands with hail, the wind, snow, or rain is when it's most important to be prepared. Without having the proper shelter that'll keep everyone safe it's likely everyone will die from the weather conditions before dying from getting ill or starvation.

When deciphering which shelter is ideal when encountering a SHTF situation some preppers believe that their tent will work just fine, but the reality is most tents have a hard time holding up in harsh weather conditioners.

A portable tent is nice, but a long-term shelter is what's needed. It'll withstand harsh elements and keep a survivalist safe during SHTF.
