Chapstick is one of those things that most of us have on our possession or somewhere near – be it in a survival kit, purse, in a desk drawer, a glove department, you name it.

Living in the Northeast, during late Fall to early Spring, I use Chapstick every day, multiple times  a day.

For most of us, chapstick is a great lip balm, but it has many more uses – including uses in a survival situation.

For example, did you know that if you rub some on fire tinder, it acts the same way as petroleum jelly on cotton balls? It also is a great dressing for minor to medium cuts and abrasions.

It is so versatile, including several Chapstick tubes in your survival kit or bug-out bag is almost mandatory.
