This type of handmade bow is not ideal to be sure, but in a survival situation, where improvisation is key to making it through, it could be the difference between eating or not.
This type of bow would work on small game, birds and fish without much trouble.
Ideally, if a catastrophic survival situation happened, say a major storm on the East Coast, everyone had prepared and gutting it through is more a matter of inconvenience, not survival.
As we know, however, many are not prepared and even the best prepared can be caught unawares; if that happens, a PVC bow is one way of fashioning a weapon that can be used for small game or fish or for self-defense.

I made a nice bow out of PVC and it works great!
I chose to stimulate the local economy and buy a takedown recurve LOL. not cheap but hey, if we don’t break out a little then we won’t have anything good local. Besides, PVC and cold weather don’t get along
My friend made probably 10 or 20 of these in different sizes. He made a couple that you can’t tell aren’t wood until you hold it in your hands. These are fun and cheap to use.
Ian Munro……..after the bow drill? haha
I don’t think I’d be shooting at a rubber tire. That arrow might bounce off, come back and hit you in the face. Then you’d be PVC face!
Another type of bow (not very well known) that could be useful in a survival situation is the pellet bow.
I’ll use my Mathews lol

It works and can hold out long enough for you to get something better. Hey in a pinch you will say oh thank god I have this.

Ive made a few pvc bows now and they work a treat, including my last which pulled 58lb at 28″…
For the cost and durability i wont shoot anything else anymore…..
Finishing up on my PVC bow right now. Kinda stuck until I can get some paracord. And having trouble finding any of it. Our Walmart doesn’t carry it any longer. And no hardware stores close by
