Often we have an inner anticipation that, while good on a hunter level, may not always get what it expects to see. Example: Perhaps you’ve bought a new tarp, planning to set up a tent. You anticipate what you feel it will look like. But then when you roll the thing out, see what you are dealing with, you suddenly discover it’s too small. There you are, in the middle of the wilderness, with half a tent! Time for Plan B. A lean-to?

With this in mind, fire can also be a tricky proposition. You can sit back, know how to make a fire, expect it to come out right each time you light it but then something will happen during that third or fifth attempt that will just not catch a spark!

This is why we recommend that preppers learn more than a few ways to set a fire. Conditions can change and you just don’t know what will happen!
