Just because you are living off the grid does not mean you cannot be creative and live in the home of your dreams! Rustic, as we have often said, does not have to mean uncomfortable and ugly. The underground “hobbit home” on the next page is far from that description!

And what is really lovely is the builder plans on creating even more of these small underground homes on her five acres of land. Does she have water piped in from the city? No! Are there electric poles marring the landscape? No! What about phone service? Honestly, we do not know! LOL.

However, this is real off the grid living. Listening to her as she shows us the home and tells her story is fascinating. Our hostess even tells us how she purchased the land cheaply and why she was able to do it!
