[VIDEO] DIY Mallet From Milk Container

Mallets are one of the most under-estimated tools in any survivalists tool or survival kit.

Everyone's first instinct is to use a hammer or Ax head to pound things but a mallets distributed force is actually more effective when you do not need to center your impact.

Plus, the narrow head of a hammer or Ax can split things, like tent posts, and cause irreversible damage.

For everything from pounding tent stakes to tightening wooden joints, a mallet is the far more useful and effective tool. Ideally, you have a rubber mallet, but in a pinch, you can make a mallet out of a wooden handle and a bunch of old, plastic milk jugs.

The principle here is that melted plastic hardens stronger than any traditional, wooden mallet.

The video on the next page shows you how to use old milk jugs to make a mallet head and how to fashion a simple but very strong handle.
