Having a sturdy, sharp and reliable knife is vital to making it through a survival situation. If you do not have access to one or if you are in a situation where your knives have started to break down, knowing how to make one from common items is equally critical.

With common materials and a minimum of equipment you can make your own knife (or knives) for everyday use or as a barter item.
