(VIDEO) Could You Eat Grasshoppers for Survival Food? This Prepper Shows Us How:

eating grasshoppers

Grasshoppers are a very vocal and highly protein-rich source of calories. Consuming them isn't really as easy as simply popping them in your mouth, though. Watch the video below to learn how to eat this edible bug.

Eating grasshoppers may not sound like the most appetizing meal, but it'll do in a pinch. Pound for pound, they have more protein than beef, and although you may have to catch a lot of them in order to fully satisfy your stomach, they'll definitely keep you going just a bit longer.

And don't go thinking you can just pop them in your mouth like Bear Grylls, because that jaw can bite when it has to and those legs are going to be like swallowing fiberglass, not to mention the high potential for parasites and bacteria in the live grasshoppers.

This is a great video for anyone who has seen Man Vs. Wild and thinks they can just eat anything without consequence.

Remove the head to remove the guts. The guts hold parasites. Their t head and guts or use for bait. Eat the body. Or put them whole on a skewer and roast them over fire.

Everything is edible in a survival situation except Armadillos. They carry leprosy.

Have to remove the wings and have to roast them. Do not eat them raw

In any arid dry environment the squirrel and rat are just as dangerous to eat if not prepared the same and cooked thoroughly… Food for thought

What’s your plan when the ammo runs out, the hooks are all snagged and gone, giving line and paracord all used up, etc etc. what about a dry spell on the hunt/fish for a few days. Always have a backup for the backup plan so that when plan A and B fail, you don’t have to think of C on an empty tank.
