Starting a fire in a survival situation is one of the first priorities towards ensuring you are safe and can make it through.

Ideally, you have tinder and a fire starter on your person and kindling and burn wood at your disposal.

If you lack a fire starter, however, you have options – one of which is to use a foil wrapper and battery to create a flame that you can then use to ignite your tinder.

You have to use a foil wrapper and you should use some sort of protection for your fingers (the contact points get very hot,) but if you alter the foil into a strip that is easily ignited, you have an almost fool-proof method of getting that first flame going.
