(VIDEO) Believing in These Survival Myths Could Actually Cause You Great Harm

There are a lot of ways to die. Like…a lot. In fact, all of us are walking a tightrope on a daily basis–a tightrope in which one short stretch of bad luck can quickly put us in the ground.

Usually, this bad luck is attributed to a series of bad decisions. This is especially true for those who find themselves in wilderness survival situations. Keep yourself from making the wrong choices by getting the following myths out of your mind now!

Sure, drinking your own urine will keep you alive a bit longer, but only once. Sure, you may want a roof on your shelter to block out the wind and the rain, but only if you are directly facing those threats.

Finally, you may believe everything you see on survival shows but try not to bring that belief into the wilderness because it will probably get you killed.

Build a shelter, stay warm, conserve your water and energy, and wait for rescue. Most people who get out of survival situations do exactly that, so maybe more survivalists should take some pages from these peoples' books.
