In the best of survival circumstances, you are armed with a firearm and knife, both made of steel.

Our reliance on steel weaponry, however, can be a liability – for centuries, cultures had lethal weapons that were made of non-metal materials and this video highlights a few of the more spectacular examples.

Apart from a historical perspective, this video shows clearly that you do not need metal weapons to survive – in fact, many cultures survived for centuries using natural materials they found around them.

There is no doubt metal makes things easier, but it is nice to know it is not critical to survival in most cases.
