We are not sure what time of year this was, whether the bear was ill or merely sleepy, but it seems to have no problem traveling a path, possibly on the search for some food or companionship. We suggest staying off this path if you can avoid it!

It really is a big beautiful bear. If it hears the Rangers inside the building he or she seems to not care. All it wants is to get where it is going. And, God bless her or him – let the bear go. It is not hurting anyone and does not look like it wants to.

This is nature and survival at its finest. Like the Rangers, if you do not want to attract bears do not do anything that will upset them or bring attention to yourself. Stay safe and, if ever in Alaska, say a very quiet “hello” to the bears!
