This type of sentry system has a lot of potential uses anywhere you want to know if someone or something is approaching.
Security is critical in any type of a survival situation and this simple system is effective, both in warning you and sending a message to anyone who intrudes on your property.
I've seen similar systems used to serve as a warning around gardens and honeybee hives.
It is inexpensive, easy to set up and the noise will drive off most intruders, two or four-legged.

A few more parts and work and you can have a real trip line reuseable for 12 gauge. Not exactly saying how for the safety of kids.
