(Video) Are Millennials Ready to Handle a Serious Emergency Situation?

We truly date ourselves when we announce that we come from the tail end of the “baby boomer” generation but, coming from that period, having a father who fought in WW2, we were taught many things that, we think, our generation did not really teach Generation X or the Millennials.

Now, with Generation Z approaching – with the world nearly always at the edge of a new disaster, there is a real fear out there that many of our young people will fall further behind when it comes to survival prepping. Telling them not everything can be solved by their iPhone is nearly unthinkable!

In other words, it is up to you as prepping parents to teach your kids how to survive during a SHTF scenario. Yet, don’t just teach the basics, tell them why it is so important to know how to live without technology. Or, if they can’t, show them how technology (re: solar panels) can work for them should the worst happen.

After the break go to the next page and learn more about millennials and if they are truly ready for a serious emergency situation!

Enough with the BS bashing of millennials at least do it right and say the bottom 25% cause I’m 33 a millennial and would survive perfectly fine in shtf situation

Survival of the fittest. I actually find it kind of comforting to know that if the SHTF, then the trouble-making inept tantrum throwers will either grow up or go away.

I like to think of such a scenario as mother nature correcting a problem…

If you need to bail out of you location the crazy$#%&!@*dogs could give away your location..But sounds like you’ll be just fine.

Your sooo right. Your parents cared. Too many let their kids run wild while both parents held down jobs in order to keep up with the Jones. Stand proud. Common sense isn’t common any more.

They will have us older men and women to help them stay safe. In return us older folks will have youthful energy to helps us in return. Many things will change for all of us. I’m 45 and I know half of people my age won’t make it a year in a survival situation. And yes I do have extraordinary survival skills I would gladly pass on to younger folks.

It was the millennial generation that fought in Iraq and Afghanistan in Iraqi freedom and the war on terror

Im with you on that one, i hate being lumped in and generalized with that ignorance when they say millennial. I was in the woods on my own, setting traps, catching crawdads, primitive fishing, and making shelters before i hit 10. What’s bad is i wasn’t taught alot of it, it was instinct. What i did for fun as a kid they call a survival show and have a hard time doing it. It’s stupid and sad at the same time.

That last statement Greg Korpela, it should be made into a poster and needs to be the response for those of us inside of that unfortunate age category to counteract the generalization. I don’t think ive ever seen it put better.

Not so sure you could say it about ANY generation. 100-200 years ago what we think would be a “survival scenario” was just everyday life for them.

Not scary at all. We’ve told them the day was coming but I guess they thought Obama would be president forever and just keep handing out money. If you do not heed the warning and get vaught in the crossfire, you have no one to blame but yourself. Good riddance

I venture out into the forest atleast twice a year (more often if u can) to keep sharp.

Idiocracy is not scary, but in the wrong place it may need extinction!

It’s not really millennials, it’s worthless liberals, they’re going to die off by the thousands if anything bad happens

  16. Henry Commons said:

The majority of urbanites and suburbanites would not be able to handle or survive a serious emergency situation.

  17. Marie Fields said:

Hope it doesnt happen but if the Koreans or anyone does anything super stupid its unlikely that anyone will survive.. Think about that while your spreadin the Hate.

  18. Larry Davis said:

If Millennials arent ready, its because the generations before them passed on very little knowledge and exposure to them.

  19. Don Hughes said:

Hahaha. There won’t be any “safe spaces” in any survival scenario.

  20. Matthew Fitch said:

It’s not just Millennials – I feel that a lot of people under the age of 50 just simply never had to learn a lot of the skills that people knew 100 years ago.

  21. Alex Penz said:

I fought there. It was a giant waste of time and lives. Millenials that I served with were pretty lazy.

  22. Tim Daugherty said:

Why can we not develop a technical training system like the military. With more and more jobs becoming more technical we should develop a system that trains workers and gets them into the job pipeline quicker. Making them experts at the job they do!

If survival involves texting, twitter and video games then heck yeah they will

unless you have been living it, people dont know what they dont know. And this newer generation, and the new gens will be thugs or dead unless they have a protective group in their circle. Must agree with the other lady, need to surround your self with knowledgeable older people and young ones for their strong backs.

  28. Steve Rogers said:

NOPE, the little pansies will all die!!! But I know grown men that can’t lite a gas furnace either, or change the oil, or a tire, sharpen and change mower blades, fix a car, paint a house, raise a good child that knows the difference between tight and wrong, knows the difference between rioting and a peaceful demonstration, I can do this ALL day, people have faults and that makes us human, but law breakers and rioters, well they are just animals!!!
