Fishing is one of the easiest ways to ensure you have food if you are facing a survival situation, especially if the situation you find yourself in requires you to move a lot.

This is because fish live in almost any body of water – you may not in some cases in normal times consider eating them, like say goldfish you find in a park pond

But in a survival situation where access to protein and energy is one of your primary goals, fish that were not something you considered suddenly are gourmet food.

One way of getting access to fish while not using a lot of energy is to use a bottom fishing method.

While this might sound like all you would get are bottom feeding fish, the reality is just about any fish will take the bait if it is presented correctly.
