(VIDEO) A DIY Tripwire Alarm for Only a Dollar?! Check Out How to Make One HERE:

alarm tripwire

Tripwires are great. Not only do they alert you to an unwanted intruder, but they also do a great job of scaring the intruder away so that you don't even have to get involved.

To learn how to make one of these alarm tripwires on the cheap, check out the video below.

The one downside to this is that it's not very waterproof, which could be a problem if the area in which you live sees a lot of rain or snow.

One way you could alleviate that problem is to cover the electrical components in petroleum jelly to protect them from moisture. What makes this project great is that you can surround your entire home for less than it costs to go to the movies.

While you'll want a few extra on the doors to your home (to make sure you can hear the intruder) having them outside surrounding the property is a very good idea because tripping this really loud alarm will likely be enough to send most intruders running.
