Insects play a vital role in various forms in the process of enabling life on the planet.

Some, however, also have a dark side, especially to human beings!

I figured the mosquito was the first killer, mainly because they are so prolific, worldwide, and are able to play host to an array of bacteria, viruses, and parasites.

What I did not see coming was the threat locusts, or grasshoppers play to humans, but I guess it makes sense; if you rely on your crops for your nourishment, a swarm of hungry locusts could mean starvation!
