When many people choose to live off the grid, they know it will mean a lot of hard work. They have to build their own home and rely on themselves for everything. Now living off the grid is becoming even more difficult to do because it may even be illegal. This is why it is crucial that you know about the laws in your state so you know how you should handle these changes to the laws.
Here Is What You Should Know If You Want To Live Off The Grid:
From Costilla County, Colorado trying to ban people from building off-grid homes or camping on their own land, to the federal government actually trying to make it illegal to live in a tiny home or off-the-grid RV, there are a growing number of government agencies attempting to regulate this lifestyle out of existence.
While the mainstream media continues to ignore the problem, a couple of independent media organizations and a few reporters have taken notice, and we’ve tried to shine a spotlight on the problem. One of the first cases we covered was the story of how Off Grid enthusiasts in California were being harassed and targeted by their local government officials.
A couple of years back, Reason Magazine took a film crew out to one of these secluded desert towns in California and filmed some of the off-grid residents. From being threatened with jail time if they didn’t hook back into the grid, to actually being thrown in jail because the county didn’t like the look of their homes or land, the people in the deserts of Los Angeles County are being terrorized by their local government.
This news may be discouraging but this doesn't mean off the grid living is going to go away completely. It just means that if you want to live off the grid, you need to make sure you are aware of the laws and regulations.
By being aware of the new laws that are being placed you can make sure that you are not doing anything that is a crime. It will also help to make sure you and your family are protected as much as you can be from any challenges you may be faced with.

Well as a idea to keep your self out of trouble just hook up and run a refrigerator and freezer and leave at that. You can still be off grid yet be hooked to it.
Think about what you just said lol
Amish do it and still maintain A off grid lifestyle think about your thoughts unless everyone in that area that wants to live off grid and keep that lifestyle don’t ban together and just claim something as religious freedom from modern convince then there is no damm use of complaining about the laws that are being made.
I guess everyones idea of offgrid is different!!
The American dream. Living with the government up our asses.
Here think of this, you live off grid but get a medical condition that requires use of a machine that runs on electric, no you have solar but as u should know there gonna be times that it won’t charge enough. A generator running all night isn’t very cost effective if your trying to live a sustainable lifestyle. So know would it be dumb to use the grid for just the nessisty?
It’s all about tax revenue. If you aren’t on grid, you are being charged taxes on the utilities, and the government hates not being able to extort taxes from you at every turn.
Whatever a person wants or needs is cool with me! Don’t mean i have to agree

Kiss my fucking$#%&!@* Pass the no treapassing sign you’ll lose you wig
Why is the desire for a simpler life viewed as a crime?
They demand to be in your home one way or another
I think it’s a crime that the govt sticks their damn nose into everything we want to do
I see nothing wrong with inspections to code for safety reasons but it should stop there. Greedy monopolies that want to stay in your pocket and pull more $$ out.
Just stay out of our business! For pete’s sake, do they have to regulate the life out of everybody? Go home to your mc mansions, turn on all of your lights and leave the rest of us alone!
Should there not be an organization representing Off Grid lifestyle on private property?
Off Grid specifically defines being off the electrical grid. I understand being connected for emergency purpose but that isn’t off grid.
Well half the people in this group are on grid, but preaching about off grid.
