Trot and Jug Lines for Survival – A Brief How-To

trotlines

The principle behind trot lines and running multiple jug lines is that many hooks spread over a body of water is more efficient than fishing with just one hook.

The yield this guy gets is not spectacular, but the video shows how to set up and retrieve both trot and jug lines.

In a survival situation, the more food yield you can produce with the least amount of energy increases your survival chances significantly.

Trot and jug lines are just two ways of potentially reaping a huge fish harvest with very little expended energy; plus, your baited hooks soak for a longer period of time than just a single baited hook on a rod and reel, which increases your chances of catching a fish.
