A reliable, durable knife is vital to any survival situation.
What knife to purchase, however, is dependent on your own preference and what you likely will be using it for.
Here is a short summary of the most popular knives on the market.
USMC KA-BAR
The USMC KA-BAR is a knife that has really withstood the test of time. Originally adopted into use by the United States Marine Corps in 1942 — The USMC Mark 2 combat knife is probably one of the best known survival knives on the market.
Although it’s primarily thought of as a combat knife, it was designed to be a multipurpose utility knife that proved especially valuable in jungle environments.
SOG SEAL Pup Elite
The SOG SEAL Pup Elite is another knife made popular by its reputation among the military. Designed to be used by active duty Navy SEALS, the SEAL Pup Elite has earned its place at the top of the list because it has proven it can hold up during even the toughest of conditions.
Tom Brown Tracker Knife
The Tom Brown Tracker Knife is one of the more expensive knives in the group, but it’s definitely one that deserves its place on the list because of its durability and usefulness in a wilderness setting.
It’s designed to be used in the wilderness, and has three distinct blade sections designed for chopping, carving and sawing. The unique blade and the long handle make it great for batoning, gutting fish and game, and just about any bushcraft application you can think of.
The Morakniv Companion
When it comes to survival knives, you really do get what you pay for. That being said, if you’re on a budget and looking for something that’s not going to break the bank, The Morakniv Companion is a knife that you can’t afford to pass up. Ranging anywhere from $15 – $30, the Morakniv Companion is one of the only knives at that price point that came anywhere near making the list.
Picking out a dependable knife should rank as one of the critical first priorities of building your survival kit, bug-out bag or even if you are just venturing into the woods for a hike, hunting or fishing trip.
With this guide, you can get a sense of what other survivalists rely on and as you can see there are options that give you the vital durability and versatility you need, without breaking the bank.

I have this.
Ok this list was obviously not composed by a knife person. If it was the the TOPS knives Tom Brown Tracker would NOT be in this list. I would place the TOPS BoB or brothers of bushcraft knife on instead. As far as a tactical knife are we talking a fighting knife or a survival knife that can be used as a weapon in a pinch? They are different animals. If a knife is good at wilderness skills it doesn’t make it necessarily the best weapon and a good weapon is not necessarily good for bushcraft and survival. For a fighter you want a blade that is fast in hand, thin blade that can take a very very keen edge(bad for chopping and surviving) something designed to part flesh. Stabbing and slashing are different motions and uses than bushcraft and as such should be approached differently. For a “tactical” fighting knife I would go with a karambit on the small end and a large Bowie style knife with sharpened sledge on the larger end with the KaBar fighting knife right in the middle. I own a KaBar produced Becker BK7 and it is about as robust a survival knife as one could ask for but I wouldn’t want to use it as fighting knife unless no other choice because it is very heavy and not very agile in the hand. This is just my thoughts and I’d be happy to discuss knives with anyone. One of my favorite topics 🙂

Take your pick
Fallkniven F1 and S1, they cost a bit but NOTHING compares NOTHING.
Compare the stats and the tests done.
They are the legit best knife made bar none.
The F1 can hold 500lbs before the blade gives out, the S1 has a 350lb threshold.
I have not seen tests like that run on any other knife, although they offer lifetime warranties.
What if they are there anymore to swap it out?
Check out this line and you will find it is used by the elite military worldwide.
Becker has a non existent quality control and when i read the reviews and called them, the response was they would try to pick out a good one for me.
The Ferber LMF doesn’t have a full tang, it’s a rat tail tang and they try to justify it.
Go look at Fallkniven for the best without question, survival, hunting or defense.
