One of the most misunderstood and thus scorned communities today is that of the “survivalist.”

Part of this is the tendency of the media to sensationalize everything they can and part is just simply not understanding what motivates those who want to be prepared in case something goes south.

When you consider all that happens to us as a world community, every day, it is a wonder more are not focused on preparing for the seemingly inevitable man made or natural disaster, civil unrest or disease outbreaks.

While some do take it to an extreme, most survivalists are not preparing for the end of the world, but the disruption of their world.

That makes so much sense, even the US federal government encourages everyone to be basically prepared for some life altering event.
