Like it or not, biting flies are a fact of life if you live out in the country throughout most of North America and that reality can be everything from annoying to painful!

In New England for instance, the only time there is not some sort of biting fly is after the first frost of fall through early spring – in essence, when everything is frozen and usually covered in that blasted white stuff!

Of all the Flies, Deer Flies rank near or at the top of most people's lists of “Most Annoying.”

If they are not biting you, they are flying around your head and buzzing your eyes, nose, mouth, and ears!

You can use bug spray, but that has a lot of chemicals, so most of us try and figure out alternative ways to ward them off and use the spray only when necessary.
