We like citrus fruits, especially oranges, and it really has always annoyed us that we can’t do anything of significance with an orange peel. Think about it. The peel a tough and kind of pretty but once you are done with it the peel gets tossed and disintegrates in some land-fill somewhere having outlived its usefulness as – well –  the peel around an orange!

Experts say 3.8 million tons of citrus peels go to waste each year! Doesn’t that seem wrong to you? Really, is there no way to repurpose the ever-faithful orange peel?

Good news! A group of Spanish researchers may have found a terrific use for orange peels that is not just beneficial but healthful too!
