Anything can happen when you engage with Mother Nature, from falls to animal attacks and everything in between. What makes matters worse is that if you become injured you have no access to medical help, apart from whatever first aid gear you happen to have in your supplies.

Even if you don't become injured, the act of traveling through rough terrain and providing food for yourself can be a physically daunting prospect, especially in cold weather when calories are burned much faster than they are gained.
