The Survivalists Guide to Poisonous Snakes

Not all snakes are poisonous or cause harm. Many are, in fact, completely harmless and can be left to their own devices – or even kept as pets, depending on your comfort level. Just know that if you have a pet snake, the key to keeping them tame is maintaining a lot of interaction with them. Pick them up frequently, socialize them with your friends if they're not too terrified, just so they get used to the idea of being handled by humans. If you don't, they cab become withdrawn and can bite.

When you're in the great outdoors, its probably in your best interest not to approach snakes at all. It's better to be safe than sorry, but it's also great to be aware of which snakes are poisonous. That way, in the event you find one inside your sleeping bag, you know whether or not to panic. Well, you'd probably panic anyway if there's a snake in your sleeping bag, but you should know the difference between something dangerous and life threatening and something you can try to forget about over a nice campfire dinner.

Starting on page 2, we'll show you which snakes you need to keep on your radar.
