When the SHTF and we are totally off the grid, doctors may be very hard to find. As a matter of fact, your physician may be off somewhere, bugging out just like the rest of us!
So, who do we go to when illness comes and medical help is needed? The answer is we may have to rely on ourselves and our handy first aid kit and book.
Unfortunately, when we are off the grid, injury and sickness-wise we will have a much to worry about. After all, when bugging out a lot of us will be hiking through the wilderness, hoping to make ourselves scarce from the looters and mobs of the cities and towns.
And out in that wilderness, there are many creatures to worry about.
There are bears, wolves, leopards and even an opossum is known to get pretty vicious when it has nothing to eat or feels threatened. Yet, there is something even worse out there than these nasty creatures.
And no, I know the adage that man is the most deadly creature in the woods is tempting to quote but it is not us!

Mosquitoes
Quinine water helps either prevent or cure malaria. I remember the first taste of that, I was 10 years old spending what was left of my allowance on a can of either cream soda or try quinine water on a hot summer day. Spewed the stuff out in shock and disappointment.
Mosquitoes, and also deer flies can burn in hell.
What’s a good way to keep them and other bugs off you without any store bought repellents ?
Long clothing.
Smoking your clothes, carrying sage as a necklace (I think its sage), eat garlic, and burch sap refined.

you have ‘Silent Spring’, and some really misleading(lies) about DDT for the deaths of millions in third world countries.
I find that strong smelling herbs work well. I use pennyroyal, peppermint…even basil. Crush and rub all over over that you can reach. The little buggers cant smell you, cant find you, so wont come in for a sip 😉
