Because one never knows when or where an emergency can happen, it is important that you and your family practice basic drills to ensure each one of your family members knows their responsibilities.
Just like in sports or theater or pretty much anything that requires on-demand performances, the more you practice, the better the chances everyone will perform as needed and expected during the real thing.
Imagine, for example, an NFL coach stating that his team did not practice for a big game because he told them about the plays that would be called in a team meeting.
That, in essence, is what you are doing if you map out your emergency plan, but do nothing in terms of practicing for it.
On the next page we detail four survival drills you must practice with your family.
