Step by Step Guide to Making Gunpowder

how to make gunpowder

Warning: As always, when working with the combustible stuff, please follow all safety protocols and equally important, follow all local and state laws at all times.

The more self-sufficient you are, the better off you will be in a survival or SHTF moment.

That seems obvious enough, but there are so many things that are done for us that we take for granted. If it were truly a SHTF moment, many items would not be available.

One area that is particularly true pertains to ammunition.

If we were in a prolonged survival situation, for most of us, the ammunition on hand for protection is all we have. When it runs out, our ability to hunt and defend ourselves drops precipitously.

Gunpowder, however, is one of the easier survival items to make if you know how to do it.

On the next page, learn how to make gunpowder and be prepared if you experience a SHTF situation.

I thought this would be an article on how to mix COMMON ingredients to make gunpowder…something along the lines of, “piss into a bucket and let it evaporate over a month. Next, add charcoal and farts for sulfur. Voila! You have gunpowder!”

This and weapons to use it were around for centuries before smokeless powders and is definitely not a substitute. It is easy to make, efficient and effective for launching or scattering projectiles.
True, it would be careless and unsafe to make or use it without knowledge. But, it is safe to make, store and use if you take precautions. This article is not ‘all you need to know’ by any means.

To make it smokeless just substitute ferrous iron for the charcoal

Man thrived for millennia before gunpowder. It is a luxury, not a necessity.

My grandfather used to make his own ammunition. I used to watch him pour the led into the mold.
