Smith & Wesson is Changing its Name! Why? It’s Not What Someone Would Think!

When you hear Smith & Wesson (S&W) undoubtedly, a very particular image is conjured.

If you hunt or shoot, chances are very good one of your first firearms was a S&W.

Most of us over the age of 40 remember Dirty Harry's S&W Model 29, a six shot, double action revolver chambered for a 44 Magnum cartridge.

In fact, outside Colt and Winchester, no other gun manufacturer is more iconic and symbolic of the Old, Wild West than S&W.

Which is why so many are confused that S&W are changing their name to American Outdoor Brands Corporation.

Is it because of anti-gun activists? Or fear of lawsuits? How about ridiculous politicians looking for a way to get on the evening news?

Undoubtedly, all those factored into the decision, but the primary motivator, according to the Company, was branding.

I’m curious as to if their sales are going to drop. Although unreasonable, I have no desire to own one branded with the new name.

Research people! They are not changing the name of their firearms division. It is the parent company changing its name. Nothing will change except the name on non-firearms products.

The explanation given by the CEO is complete PC BS. Sounds like they have a board filled with spineless appeasers.

Remington branched out making other outdoor gear without changing their name. I am gratified that the firearms division will retain it’s honorable name.

The guns will still be Smith & Wesson. The company has gone in multiple directions and the name is too narrowly identified as a gun manufacturer.

That’s what it sounds like…. need to distance themselves from only being known as the type of company the left is trying to shut down.
