There's no doubt about it, cowboys and the frontier's women and men who traveled west were the ultimate survivalists. They lived during the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries and used what they had to make a living from themselves, even during the most difficult of circumstances.
Everything they had on the prairie was either purchased at a specialty store miles away or made by hand. When they needed something it wasn't that easy to get it with just a click of a button via Amazon, it meant them learning the skills to make something or traveling miles to get it.
You have to admire these brave survivalists who moved out west to make a new life for themselves. They had to be strong both emotionally and physically and they also had to be willing and capable of traveling a lot of miles with families to care for. All the while they also had scarce food and little resources available to them.
These frontier's men and women were survivalists in every sense of the word.
