In the middle of a survival situation or SHTF moment, the easiest way to gain access to help is to signal someone.

That seems like basic, common sense, but if you had to do that right now, would you know how?

Signal mirrors are one, but they rely on an air rescue and a pilot who sees the signal; the same holds true with lighting a bonfire or spelling out SOS on the ground with rocks or other easily noticed materials.
