Quick Ways to Keep Your Tent Cool When it’s Blazing Hot Outside

camping in a tent

Camping in the summer can get very warm, particularly on those weekends when the scorching sun is baking the tent all day and the heat lingers inside all throughout the night. This can make for some very uncomfortable sleeping. Fortunately, there are some tricks you can follow to make your summer camping trip just a bit more comfortable.

Set up your tent when it gets dark and take it down during the day.
Pitch your tent in the shade.
Place your tent facing the wind and keep all windows open to let air circulate.
If allowed, dig a two-foot deep pit, large enough to fit your tent, and set your tent in the pit.
Do not put the rain fly over your tent.
Use battery-operated fans. Place a bowl of ice in front of it for even cooler air.
Pitch your tent in the shadiest spot in the campsite.
Forgo the tent all together and sleep in a hammock or a mosquito cot tent.

When planning a summer camping trip, having a few tips in mind to make your nights a bit more comfortable can be the tipping point for having a miserable time out in the woods to having a wonderful experience enjoying the great outdoors. After all, nobody likes to be sticking to the inside of their sleeping bag while tossing and turning all night and breathing stifling air that makes you feel as though you're in an oven.

Try these tips out the next time you decide to get away from it all, and you'll find yourself a happy camper (I'm sorry, I couldn't resist).

Clickbait sucks. Don’t bother with this article. It tells you to put your tent up in the shade, blow a fan over ice (because ice is so commonly found in the middle of the woods in summer), or opt for a hammock instead of a tent. No s*** sherlock :P.
