Putting Together a G.O.O.D. Plan – Getting Out of Dodge

The term Get Out Of Dodge (GOOD) refers to the American Old West and Dodge City, Kansas, when it was little more than a lawless free-for-all.

While Hollywood has played up the mayhem and violence in places like Dodge, it was still a pretty rough place early on and no place you wanted to raise a family if you could help it.

At some point, maybe even as Hollywood was busy embellishing Dodge City's reputation, the term for vacating the City ahead of the law, an angry mob or even just someone who had a beef with you became part of the American vernacular.

The same concept – getting out just before an incident occurs – applies to those who are preparing for making it through a survival incident.

That, though, requires more of a plan than just “let's go.”
