Of all the uncertainties regarding a true, sustained, life-changing survival situation, one aspect of life “the day after” is not in dispute: Our food choices would be greatly altered and diminished.

Food choices would be greatly varied depending on where a person lived, but if the world as we know it ended, it is safe to say much of what we enjoy food-wise – foreign raised food – would be a thing of the past for the foreseeable future.

That is in part why so many survivalists are taking steps to grow their own food, but even then, for most of us, common goods we take for granted would be rare and expensive.

If that were the case, many of us would have to rely on food sources and options that closely mirrored what our ancestors ate.
