NASA Prepares for an Asteroid Impact: ‘It’s going to happen’

Leviticus A. Lewis, the National Response Coordination Branch Chief for FEMA, admitted the presented situation would make it difficult to successfully implement a plan. Here is what he had to say:

‘It’s quite different from preparing for an event with a much shorter timeline, such as a hurricane.’

We could have as little as three days warning of an asteroid which would blast London with the power of a hydrogen bomb.

And it’s possible that we might have no warning at all – at least with a smaller asteroid capable of shattering windows across the city.

Phil Plait, whose TED talk, How do Defend Earth from Asteroids, has been watched nearly two million times, said in an interview, ‘It doesn’t take a very big one to do real damage: that’s one of the lessons of Chelyabinsk, where a rock only 50 feet across blew out windows across a city.

‘And that one was so small we couldn’t have seen it coming.

Bigger asteroids could cause nearly unimaginable damage – wiping out many species and plunging Earth into a bleak winter lasting for years – although the larger an asteroid is, the more warning we would have of its approach.

It's good to prepare for any kind of disaster situation. Tornadoes, hurricanes, fires, and earthquakes can wreck havoc at any time. There may be an asteroid sometime in the near or distant future, but nobody knows when and where it will happen. The best thing anyone can do is to arm yourself with knowledge and prepare yourself anything that might happen.

I just read an article talking about preparing for a monstrous wave caused by a nuclear strike taking the city also. Don’t know if someone’s trying to cause hysteria or not but that coast needs a good Douche anyhow. Hopefully it runs a little south of NY.

This page is getting worse by the day. Makes me wonder about the admin(s). Less about survival and more about delusional paranoia.
