There seems to be a movement towards simplicity. Almost in retaliation to the excess of luxury and lavish consumerism, we are seeing television shows about tiny home living, along with a trend in discussing philosophies on minimalism and “slow living,” where people make things from scratch and turn off their electronics.

And it does sound delightful in theory. It can be a little isolating when the majority of the population is still looking to buy the next big thing and keep up with the Jones’ (or worse, the Kardashians). But imagine if your whole community was off-grid, and you were all in it together!
