If there is one theme we emphasize here it is that the essence of survival is improvisation.
What that means specifically, is having the knowledge, skills and abilities to re-purpose stuff to make survival tools and to take everyday items to construct the same if necessary.
One aspect of survival that is almost never overlooked is the need for a light source at night. As vulnerable as our electricity grid is, not having several sources of alternative light will leave you literally playing with fire.
If that happens, however, you do have options.
By using Kerosene or lamp oil, a small glass bottle, a funnel, Aluminum can, cotton t-shirt and scissors, you can assemble an awesome impromptu kerosene lamp that is both long lasting and gives off a lot of light.
