Your knife is your most versatile and important tool in your survival arsenal; you will use it literally every day, often multiple times a day, in almost every conceivable survival situation.

That means you must keep your knife (ves) in optimum condition and maintain them constantly, including knowing how to harden them to ensure that they will be as durable as you need them to be.

Not maintaining them properly can mean they will not perform as you need them when you need them and that can be a major problem, even a deadly mistake.

This is particularly true if you annealed them to modify them, made them from hand or have purchased blades that have not been hardened.
