Spiders evoke strange reactions from much of the human population.

Some appreciate them, others loathe them. Still, others are dreadfully afraid of them and some are ambivalent.

It does not matter that spiders eat a ton of insects and mostly will keep to themselves unless threatened or that even with venomous spiders a unique set of circumstances have to be in place for their bite to even penetrate human skin, let alone for their poison to perform its horrible work.

Spiders are enigmas most of us tolerate, many fear and a very small group actually understand or appreciate.

Understanding them, though, is very important, particularly once you realize that it is estimated that each spider eats about 2,000 insects a year.
