Whether you have a fear of snakes like Indiana Jones (remember when he was forced to be in a pit with them?!) or you're not afraid of them in the slightest, a venomous snake still can bite you before you've had time to think about your options.

Unfortunately, the prepper who gets bit by a venomous snake may not pay attention to signs when going on a hike, isn't looking where he's walking, or may not use common sense when he sees a snake out in the wild and assumes it's not venomous.

Even though only 15 out of 8,000 bites annually end up as a fatality, there are still several things you can do to avoid being bit by a snake and becoming one of these people who become a part of the statistics.

After the break, find out how you can survive when you've been bitten by a snake in the woods. There may not always be help nearby, which is why you should know what you can do to help yourself in this type of life-threatening scenario.
