While a growing number of people prepare for it, especially given the appalling state of the geopolitical scene these days, very few people actually want to have to test their prepper skills in a real-world application.

Nevertheless, those skills may be tested sooner or later, whether it's due to a botched nuclear trade agreement, a long-overdue supervolcano that can literally wipe out the planet (Google Yellowstone), radical extremism or a collapsed economy.

Many of us are prepared for a relatively short-term event, such as a natural disaster or regional unrest, but fail to comprehend just how bad a long-term event could get.
