
A solar oven is a low-cost, easy-to-use and maintain alternative to a traditional oven.
While its temperature is limited and thus what foods you can preserve, it offers enough variety to make sure you have adequate stock for winter or a survival situation.
Solar ovens utilize energy from the Sun to heat, dehydrate, cook, pasteurize and sterilize food and drink; it is relatively inexpensive and very “low tech,” which makes maintenance and utilization easy.
It is critical, however, that you use it properly and on the proper foods as it does not get hot enough to handle everything.
Not using it properly can allow bacteria to grow and many not kill parasites, which if consumed, both can cause you to be very ill.
