How to Properly Build a Safe Survival Shelter

After locating a source of water, shelter is one of the top priorities for anyone in a survival situation. Without shelter, the elements become more than just a nuisance. They become a real threat.

Exposure to the elements can hurt and even kill a person staggeringly quick. Fortunately, in virtually every survival situation, natural and man made resources to build even a rudimentary shelter abound.

Timber, boughs, vines, rocks, the earth itself, even snow can all be used to construct a durable, warm and safe place to shelter whether it is for a few hours or many days. By paying attention to what is around you and using the resources available, you can build a shelter that will keep the elements out and keep you warm, dry and relatively comfortable.
