How to Can Food Using a Pressure Cooker in 13 Easy Steps

We all enjoy the luxury of going out to eat occasionally but, as preppers, we must keep that term “luxury” in mind. There will come a time when we have to fend for ourselves on a daily basis. Having canned items are our disposal, when the world is going hungry, will be vital! Here is a great way to get started:

To start you off you will need the following: water bath canner, canning kit, canning scoop, spoons knives etc., food to be canned, other ingredients.

How to Can Food in 13 Easy Steps:
Step 1. Clean jars and lids with hot water
Step 2. Preheat jars in boiling water
Step 3. Prepare the ingredients
Step 4. Remove Jars From Heat
Step 5. Add citric acid
Step 6. Pack the Food
Step 7. Remove air bubbles
Step 8. Seal the Jars
Step 9. Lower jars into the water
Step 10. Fill Canner With Water
Step 11. Place the lid and start the process
Step 12. Remove Jars and Cool for 24 Hours
Step 13. Enjoy your homemade preserves!

You may believe that canning is not the best way for you but if you watch and listen to those who have made the effort, who have already benefitted from jarring techniques, you may just change your mind. We know it may not be as easy as buying those foods in cellophane packaging but, in the end, it is a lot less expensive and you can keep canned items for months and years if necessary!

And, it is just our opinion but canned foods taste better too!

    Or… save a whole lot of time and raw pack clean jars, pressure process as directed for that food/ jar size.
    Let ’em cool. Done.
