If you are bugging out it's safe to say things are not optimal.

If you are doing so in the Winter, it's safe to say that things really are not optimal.

One challenge you face if you do not make it to your bug-out location is where to shelter.

If you are lucky, you may find an abandoned shelter, like a hunting cabin or you may find a cave or even a blind created by evergreens.

But if all that does not happen and there is snow on the ground you still have an option: A Quinzee.

A Quinzee is a simple shelter made by hollowing out a mound of snow.

It is a relatively warm shelter that will protect you from the elements, which in a survival situation could be the difference between living and dying.
